August 8, 2010. During the summer TU38.001 does Sundays whereas U 57.001 does the Saturdays, in general. We have had no article on the Faur or photos so on August 8, 2010 under miserable weather conditions we got a series of photos.

PKP NEWS

A PKP SCHEDULED PASSENGER TRAIN - MAY 14, 2010. Every day there are two steam passenger workings in Northern Poland from Wolsztyn to Poznan and back. I was fortunate to come across the 1330 from Wolsztyn here seen between Wiry and Lubon at full bore. It really looked like a ghost from the past but what a wonderful ghost! Go see it and ride it while it is still there.

The weather really makes it look like a ghost! I wonder how they manage for carbon credits!

I WAS IMPRESSED!

May 14, 2010. I passed through St. Pancras, the Eurostar Terminal in London. I felt like a small boy in Willie Wonkas chocolate factory. I could only gaze at the magnificence of the job they have done and superb is to put it mildly.

No photos can do the real thing justice.

MALA MORAVKA BRANCH LAST DAY OF TRAINS - MAY 1, 2010

May 1, 2010. Today Olpas Moravia of Krnov ran a "Last day on the branch" with historic motor coach M 131.1454, beautifully restored by them. The weather was not at its best but a great day was had by all.

The following motorcoach and trailer performed superbly for the day:

Railcar No. 131.1454 looked superb.
As did her trailer No. 5-2345
Coupled up and operating together.
No. 2 driving cab.The seat is, to say the least, original!
The board is essential.
The left hand portion of the seat doubles as an engine cover and hinges back to allow access to the engine.
The engine is a built like a tank by Tatra.

The following staff, wives, partners and friends, amongst many made it all possible:

Jaromir Foltyn, who organised the entire event. Jaromir is also the driving force behind SZD, the steam operation from Tremesna to Osoblaha and has done miracles for preservation in the Czech Republic.
Train crew, left to right, stationmaster Mala Moravska, Driver, Driver Hribek Thomas and three guards and checkers, Dalibor Melecks, Marek Nedela and Martin Seidl. A happy group of SZD people.
Eduard Szwajnoch of SZD and friend.
Well, well, well! Who left the webmaster loose at the controls?
Stationmaster Mala Moravska.
Lenka, of Olpas with husband Mirek and son Martin.
And of course, none other than Elvis Presley travelled on the train!
And finally three generations of equipment at Bruntal. An 853, a 810 and a M131.
But some things never change!
Ready to go back to Krnov.
For details of the branch and further photos of the day click on menu on left under "Mala Moravka".

2010 STEAM IN EUROPE.

January 1, 2010. The three best steam programmes for 2010 will be in Czech Republic, Poland and Germany. Over the next few months we will bring you details of them and any of them are well worth a visit and you should mark them in your calendar. All three countries will have scheduled steam.

It is worth noting in passing that the Czech Republic has, arguably, the best steam program in Europe and next year you could plan for a visit between June and September. Apart from two scheduled service steam lines Trmesna v Slesku to Osoblaha and Jindrichu Hradec to Nova Bystrice - both narrow gauge - every weekend sees standard gauge steam all over the country. Details of all Ceske Drahys steam services are in their timetable and all Czech steam services can be found on www.zelpage.cz. Come and see for yourself.
