2009 NEWS
U46.002+U57.001 ON OSOBLAHA BRANCH
On June 29, 2009 Czech Railfans were treated to an amazing sight, three steam engines at Tremesna station! Two of these U47.002 and U57.001 worked the service train on the Osoblaha narrow gauge branch as a double header while 432.0145 brought a service train on the main standard gauge line from Krnov to Tremesna by way of connection, returning with the train in the afternoon.
Slezske Zemske Drahy is one of the few surviving narrow gauge Railways in the Czech republic. The public service is operated by Ceske Drahy year round and the steam service on Saturdays and Sundays in June, July and August by Olpas Moravia s.r.o.
Steam service operates every Saturday and Sunday until August 31, 2009 and the line is well worth a visit. This line is well worth a visit and is easy to get to. Following the photographs is a history of the line which is followed by details of how to get to the departure station at Tremesna ve Slezsku and the timetable on the line.
The following are some of the photographs were taken on the big day. To get to the complete set: -

NEW SERIES OF ARTICLES ON CZECH BRANCH RAILWAYS. ROZNOV BRANCH PHOTOS NOW INSERTED.
Czech Railways have many interesting branches, some of which may only see a few trains a year. I have started a series to cover as many as possible before I snuff it - it may well take that long - and hopefully in time this will be a major record of czech railways because there is little logic to keeping many of these branches.
So far the following branches, which can be accessed by clicking on the menu on the left, have been covered:
Tremesna ve Slezsku to Osoblaha. Steam and Diesel. August 2008.
Nemotice to Koricany. Steam. September 2008.
Valasske Mezerici to Rosnov. Railcar. October 2008.
Breclav to Lednice. Diesel. April 2009.
Jesenik to Branna, Steam and diesel. May 2009.
NEW ARTICLE ON LEDNICE BRANCH NOW INSERTED.
For the full article on the Lednice branch click on left. Here are two photos.
